Learning Kendo

Why learn kendo?
Learning kendo is great for developing physical and mental discipline. (It can also be a great deal of fun).

Who can learn kendo?
Anyone in reasonably good physical shape can learn kendo, however if you are unsure please seek medical advice.

Getting Started
Beginners are always welcome. Training sessions for beginners are on¬†Monday and Thursday¬†at 6:00pm and Saturday at 10am at the Southland Girls’ High School old gym. Beginners training will last 45min each session. However you are more than welcome to stay, do MITORI GEIKO (which is watch and learn) rest of training.

Pre School Class: If you are preschool age and under, you are still learn basic skill. (Saturday ONLY, 10:00am-10:30am)

What to wear:
Kendo can be hard work so wear something comfortable and stretchy like trackpants and a t-shirt. Kendo is done barefoot so no special footwear is needed.
